Julie Harries with “The West Pier” – winner of the People’s Choice 2016

We were delighted to hold our annual Spring Exhibition in central Brighton at the Friends’ Meeting House in Ship Street, for which we were generously sponsored by Rix & Kay Solicitors LLP.

Taking part this year, with 111 exhibits, were six of our art group members:

Adur Art Collective

Attic Art Club

Dupont Art Club at Hove

Embroiderers’ Guild (Brighton branch)

Society of Catholic Artists (Sussex Regional Group)

Society of Sussex Painters

After four days, and 750 visitors, the votes for the People’s Choice were counted and this year’s winner was declared to be “The West Pier” by Julie Harries of the Dupont Art Club at Hove.

This year’s runner-up was Linda Wheatcroft, also from the Dupont Art Club, with her painting “Oh no, not another mouse”.

The Private View, open to all of our members, both groups and individuals, was held on the evening of 20th April, when the exhibition was officially opened by the Mayor of Brighton & Hove, Councillor Lynda Hyde.
