ASSOCIATION OF FRIENDS OF HOVE MUSEUM & ART GALLERY
| The object of the Association is "the advancement of education of the public by promotion, support, assistance and improvement of the Hove Museum & Art Gallery". The Association arranges specialised lectures by well known speakers on the last Tuesday of each month. |
EAST SUSSEX DECORATIVE & FINE ARTS SOCIETY
| The Society was founded in 1989 and meets monthly at Hove Town Hall on Wednesday evenings. Each year nine illustrated lectures cover a broad variety of decorative and fine arts related topics. The Society also offers social gatherings, outings and short holidays to places of interest. Visitors are very welcome, £5.00 admission. |
ENGLISH-SPEAKING UNION
| The Brighton, Hove & District Branch is part of a world-wide organisation promoting international understanding through the English language. Local activities include public speaking competitions for schools, a lecture programme and other events. |
HOVE-DRAVEIL TWINNING ASSOCIATION
| The Association was formed in 1992 in order to develop links with the town of Draveil which is south-east of Paris, and particularly encourages visits by school children in Hove with the assistance of the Howard Longden Travel Fund. There have been two exhibitions on French themes at Hove Museum & Art Gallery and two concerts by participating schools. |
PATCHAM HIGH SCHOOL
| Patcham High School has Specialist School staus for the Arts, focussing especially on English, Media and Art. We have multi-media facilities including an editing suite, digital cameras, interactive whiteboards and an internal radio station. Our resources are available for use by the local community and we promote community partnerships. |
ROTTINGDEAN PRESERVATION SOCIETY
| The Society operates The Grange Art Gallery and Museum in Rottingdean. The building was originally the Vicarage and subsequently the home of the artist, Sir William Nicholson, who renamed it The Grange. The Preservation Society is restoring The Grange which is managed by local enthusiasts. |
SUSSEX OPERA AND BALLET SOCIETY
| The Society was founded in 1974 to "educate the public in the arts and sciences, in particular those of music, by presentation of opera ballet and drama". There are bi-monthly events, with professional artists, providing entertaining yet informative occasions, with an equal balance of ballet and opera. |
SUSSEX SCRIBES
| Sussex Scribes aims to inspire people interested in calligraphy, lettering and handwriting to meet together, and is open to all standards from beginners to professionals. The majority of meetings are one-day workshops led by tutors of national standing. Topics are broad, though related to calligraphy and include drawing, media, watercolour, composition and bookbinding. |
