After an online show in 2020 and a Summer show with restricted numbers and masks in 2021, it was nice to get back to a more familiar Spring Art Show. There were 115 works of art on show plus a good selection of prints in the Browsers. The standard of art works was particularly high this year, perhaps lockdown gave our art group members more time for creativity?
After a successful private view night, with the Mayor in attendance, we had 600 visitors over the four days, not as high as previous years but a very encouraging number. They were asked to vote for their favourite piece, to select a winner for the People’s Choice cup.
The Winners
The overall winner of the Artist of the Year competition was Carol Thompson of Dupont Art Club with her colourful painting ” The Jacket”. Carol was presented with a bottle of Champagne and the Peoples Choice cup which she can hold for the next year.
David King of Adur Art Collective was the runner up in the Artist of the Year competition with his painting ” Gabriela” he was presented with a bottle of prosecco.
The paintings selected for our publicity materials were on display and the artists also received bottles of prosecco. They were;
Victor Perkins of Dupont Art Group who produced the painting ” Another 12 in a Vase” used on our adverts, posters and fliers.
Julia Ann Field of Patcham Arts for her painting “Brightonian” which was used on the Private View invitation.
