The 2026 Art Show was a wonderful success!
We had an extraordinary number of submissions this year, 195 beautiful pieces! (144 last year) There were also 39 works available in the browsers.
We are very happy to report that 25 items were sold (14 last year).
The Mayor of Brighton & Hove, Councillor Amanda Grimshaw BEM, attended our Private View and enjoyed an extensive tour of the show. During her lovely speech, the Mayor expressed that she was feeling inspired to pick up her own paint brush!
The People’s Choice Trophy
‘Bluebell Dawn’ by Wendy Standen of Attic Art Club was the winner of the People’s Choice Trophy, and a bottle of champagne.
The runner-up was ‘Hope’ by Clare Ford of the Society of Catholic Artists (Sussex). Clare also received a bottle of champagne.
Publicity awards
As ever, our Visual Arts members put forward an amazing array of images for us to choose from for display on our Art Show publicity.
‘Brighton and Hove’ by Jane Jukes of Dupont Art Club adorned our poster this year.
‘Love For The West Pier’ by Lyndsey Smith of Attic Art Club was chosen for our Private View invitation. Jane and Lyndsey each received a bottle of wine and much praise and thanks!

Our thanks go to all our wonderful Visual Arts member groups for their contributions as artists and for volunteering at the Show. Also many thanks to all the BHAC volunteers, most especially Vivienne McKay who organises the event each year with such aplomb!
