The annual Brighton & Hove Drama Awards ceremony was held on Tuesday 12th December at Brighton Girls School, Montpelier Road.
It was a delightful evening, beautifully and professionally hosted by our own Kevin Rance, with the wonderful Kate Dyson handing out the awards.
The full list of winners was:
- Best Set Design: Dean Burke of Rottingdean Drama Society for The Ladykillers
- Best Costume Design: Lyn Fryer, Hazel Cawte, Anne Davies, and Alison Crowe of Henfield Theatre Company for Jekyll and Hyde
- Best Stage Crew: Rottingdean Drama Society for The Ladykillers
- Best Sound Design: Ven Malyon and Jane Haines for the choice of music, Henfield Theatre Company, Jekyll and Hyde
- Best Lighting Design: Martin Oakley and Susanne Crosby, Wick Theatre Company for Shadowlands
- Best Publicity & Poster: Susanne Crosby and Judith Berrill, Wick Theatre Company for Shadowlands
- Best Technical Achievement: Wick Theatre Company for Shadowlands
- The Adjudicator’s Award: Hurst Players for Art
- The Mike Padley Award For Best Supporting Actor (Male): Mike Wells as Warnie in Shadowlands, Wick Theatre Company
- The Mike Padley Award For Best Supporting Actor (Female): Lou Yeo as Rosie in Humble Boy, The Southwick Players
- The Vaughan Rees Award For Best Actor (Male): Dan Jones as Felix in Humble Boy, The Southwick Players
- The Vaughan Rees Award For Best Actor (Female): Anita Gilson as Mrs Wilberforce in The Ladykillers, Rottingdean Drama Society
- The Gabbus Denney Award For Best Director: Trevor Hodgson of Henfield Theatre Company for Jekyll and Hyde
- The Arthur Churchill Award For Excellence: Martin Oakley, Wick Theatre Company, Shadowlands, for his outstanding work and his exceptional contribution over many years for set and lighting designs and specialist props for both companies at The Barn Theatre in Southwick.
- The Bea Waters Challenge Cup For Best Overall Production: Henfield Theatre Company for Jekyll and Hyde.
