The Brighton & Hove Arts Council 2024 Outstanding Contribution to the Arts awards ceremony was held at The Brunswick, Hove, on 4th November this year. Our chair, Jane Osler, hosted the event and introduced our three nominees to a packed house:
- NAN CROFTON of the Ditchling Players, for her knowledge and enthusiasm for the theatre and for her many contributions to The Players.
- NICHOLAS HOUGHTON, the Musical Director of Brighton Orpheus Choir, for his contribution to the choir and for his wider service to music.
- GAVIN HENDERSON, Chairman of the Anthony Dale Trust, for his unremitting support to his hometown arts community over many years, his distinguished national and international career in the arts, and for his role as Director of the Brighton Festival during which time he developed what had been a 10 day mainly classical music event to what is now the largest festival of its kind in England.
We were delighted to present the award to Gavin Henderson, and certificates of commendation to our other nominees, in recognition of all the work that they have done, and continue to do, in support of the arts in our communities.
