Coastline Harmony (23rd July 2020)
Coastline Harmony, a women’s acapella group that usually meets in Southwick Community Church, has been hard at work, rehearsing on Zoom, mastering new technology and recording themselves in their own homes.
‘It’s not been easy, and it’s fair to say we’ve all struggled a bit. Virtual rehearsals can’t replace the harmony and companionship of our regular meet-ups but we have persevered. And finally (with the wizardry and tech skills of our amazing assistant MD) we’ve produced our first, virtual performance. Using the Choir Player app we learned Gloria Estefan’s ‘Turn the Beat Around’ and posted it on our Facebook page just in time for Make Music Day.

So what’s next?
Under the guidance of our MD Stuart Longley we have two more new songs currently in progress and when the rules allow we’ll try meeting up in small groups in the open air, for a socially distant sing. Balancing the parts is not easy until we can all be together in one room again, but we’re still here and still singing every Thursday evening from 7.15.
It’s great to see everyone – without it we’d all feel more isolated and it gives us something to look forward to each week.’
Coastline Harmony always welcomes new members. Whether you want to say hello while they’re meeting virtually or are happy to wait until they’re back singing ‘for real’, feel free to drop them an email at coastlineharmony@outlook.com to find out more.
