An Exhibition of Watercolour Paintings by Helen Hilliard
The Grange in Rottingdean, Sussex, will be holding an exhibition of botanical watercolour paintings by Sussex artist Helen Hilliard (1921–2004), sponsored by the Rhododendron, Camellia and Magnolia Group (RCMG) of the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS).
The exhibition will present watercolours of the three genera that were a favourite of Helen. Helen made great use of her considerable artistic talent, also producing lovely watercolour landscapes and specialising in life-size flower portraits. With her skill and great eye for the finer details, she painted extremely accurately and so beautifully an exact picture; not just of any flower, but an immediately recognisable image of the species or variety, which jumps off the page as being correct. It’s amazing how she could portray a white flower on a white background and make it stand out so clearly!
Paintings will be for sale with funds being raised for the MNDA Charity.
