‘Blue Stockings’ by Jessica Swale
‘Blue Stockings’ is set in 1896 at Girton College, Cambridge, the first British college to admit women, where female students equal men academically but are denied degrees and branded as socially unacceptable ‘blue stockings’. The story follows Tess Moffat and her peers as they campaign for the right to graduate, confronting love, class prejudice, and fierce opposition in a witty and moving exploration of ambition, courage, and challenges to societal norms.
Directed by Stephanie Somerville and Dale Brown
