Written and directed by Shola Amoo, The Last Tree tells the coming of age tale of Femi (Sam Adewunmi) a young black man in mid 00’s England. He struggles to adapt when he is taken from his idyllic life with his foster mother in rural Lincolnshire and sent to London to live with his birth mother. He is forced to decide what kind of life he will choose as he reaches adulthood, taking him on a journey of self discovery. Winner of the WGA 2020 Best Screenplay award and making Time Out’s list for best films of 2019, The Last Tree has been praised for its emotionally charged performances and the effortless command of pace and style Shola Amoo achieves in his directorial debut.
