Heber Opera specialises in opera in the round sung in English. It was founded in 1989 by Roger Clow, primarily with the aim of performing English operas that have, for one reason or another, been neglected. As it has grown, Heber Opera has taken on more ambitious and better known works, but in specially prepared chamber versions that are presented in English. Performing ‘in the round’ ensures that the full dramatic flow of every opera is accessible to the whole audience. The performances have an immediacy that is unmatched in any other approach – the opera is truly close enough to touch.
