Newhaven Art Club

Newhaven Art Club has a long and prestigious history in the very artistic town of Newhaven. Started in the 1960’s the club has met continuously ever since.  Even lockdown couldn’t stop us with weekly online meetings and a very successful virtual exhibition.

We embrace all ages and skill levels of artists and crafters in a fun, creative & supportive environment. We inspire our club artists through a varied programme of projects, activities and events; and we seek to promote interest in the arts by fostering links with schools and other groups in our local community.

The members share a passion for learning new skills and share and develop our own artistic skills through the staging of Exhibitions and we are just completing a month long show at Hillcrest Café Gallery in Newhaven.

We are a member of Brighton and Hove Arts Council so members may also join in their annual exhibition.

It is a place of friendship, support and encouragement for anyone on the creative path.  Members’ enjoy a wide variety of painting techniques and share a lifetimes worth of experience on hand should they require it, or just fun banter and a cup of tea in a friendly fun environment. Other opportunities include workshops, demonstrations, plein air painting trips and days out, all adding up to a vibrant club.

We currently meet weekly on Mondays 14.00 – 16.00

Along with our normal weekly projects we are currently holding an exhibition in Hillcrest café Gallery and joining in with Brighton Arts Council exhibition. We are also working with the local Primary school to produce a Queens jubilee exhibition of painted plates in June – one for each year of the Queens reign. During the Summer we will be having Plein Air outdoor sessions and garden meetings.
