St Mary’s Church, Kemptown

General Arts | Music

St Mary’s is a serenely beautiful Victorian church, friendly and inclusive, which doubles up as an atmospheric venue with a superb acoustic for music performance and recording.  We seek to make quality music available to all for free or at affordable prices.

From April to October we run a series of free Classical music concerts on early Saturday evenings.  The recitals are free and include complimentary refreshments afterwards, but we do ask people to give what they can in a retiring collection.   From the collection, we pay our performers a modest ‘fee’ – really a contribution towards their costs.  The remainder goes towards paying for our concert-worthy 1904 Bechstein piano.
