The 2023 poetry festival and competition was held at St George’s Church in Kemptown on Sunday 26th November.
A packed house enjoyed a poetry slam from with Hammer & Tongue! before the interval, after which John McCullough announced the the winners of the 2023 poetry competition and presented the awards.

Main competition:
- 1st prize: In The Museum Of Amazement by Peter Wellby
- 2nd prize: Press One For Emergencies by Dillon Jaxx
- 3rd prize: I Want To Keep It Simple But I Can’t by Joan Baxter

- Terminal by Katy Naylor
- First Kiss by Pete Strong
Student competition:
- 1st prize: Tea And Lemonade by Grace Kemp
- Runners-up:

- Love Is Not Competition by Eva Hibbs
Finally, the day ended with poetry readings from John and our very special guest Liz Berry.
