Sheila’s Island

LOVELY bubbly! The four cast members of Southwick Players‘ next production pull out the winning slip in their April prize draw.

The lucky winner of a bottle of champagne was Lynne Cushing, whose prize is being coveted by, left to right, Kelly Verstappen, Alison Kemish, Claire Carpenter and Lex Lake, already in survival-gear mode for Sheila’s Island at the Barn Theatre, Southwick, from July 10 to 13 inclusive.

They star in Tim Firth’s comedy about four businesswomen who set off on a – dread phrase! – team-building exercise and succeed only in becoming the first people ever to get shipwrecked on an island in the Lake District.

The perfunctory middle-class exercise turns into a fog-bound carnival of recriminations, French cricket and sausages. What should have been a bonding process becomes a muddy, bloody fight for survival. What larks, eh?

Tickets for the Sarah Papouis-directed play are on sale now and each performance starts at 7.30pm. Box office: 0333 666 3366. Online: southwickplayers.org.uk
