Sussex Chorus (22nd August 2020)
UPDATE FROM SUSSEX CHORUS.
.
Our committee has been exceptionally careful to keep all of our choir members as safe as possible from Covid-19. Sadly, this has meant we have not been able to sing together for a long time. However this will all change in September 2020 and our new season will begin with weekly, virtual meetings. These will cover discussions, vocal exercises, quizzes and indeed anything that will keep us fit and musical until it is felt that we can sing together again face to face.
.
Sadly we no longer have the talented Jack Thompson as our Director of Music. We have lost him to a public school in Oxford where he is taking the position of Director of Music & Head of Academic Music. We had a great time with him at the helm and he introduced us to some new music and different ideas. We are extremely sorry to lose him but as a talented young man he is much sought after and we must be happy for him.
.
Out of this sad news comes some good news. The very successful tenor soloist, Stephen Brown, has accepted the position of our Director of Music. He has had a long association with the choir going back some years when Janet Canetty Clarke was the Director of Music and has sung with us as a soloist on many occasions. He was due to sing the part of the Evangelist in The St John Passion at our proposed concert last March which, of course, had to be cancelled.
For more information about Stephen here is his page on our website:
