Volunteer will run 100 km for BHAC!

On September 6th 2025 our Social Media Manager, Abi Rose, will be fundraising for BHAC by taking part in the South Coast Challenge. This is a 100 km ultramarathon which begins at Eastbourne and finishes at Arundel!

Abi hopes to raise much-needed funds which will help BHAC to continue to champion our wonderful not-for-profit arts groups.

If you would like to support Abi (and BHAC!) with a donation please visit her JustGiving page!

A copy of the BHAC Arts Diary is held up to the sky, open to pages in the Music section
With your help we can keep our much-loved Arts Diary in circulation!

A Q&A with Abi

Q: How long have you been volunteering with BHAC?

A: Since November 2022

Q: Why did you decide to begin volunteering?

A: I saw that BHAC were advertising for a volunteer to help with the website and social media. I thought that I could be helpful to them, and that BHAC sounded interesting!

Q: What have you enjoyed most about your time volunteering?

A: Doing lots of different things. The 2023 Poetry Competition with Poems on the Buses was a particularly rewarding experience, including web and graphic design, photography, and lots of social media (and bus rides!).

Q: What benefits have you experienced personally?

A: I have increased confidence that I can apply my skills and knowledge to many different tasks.

Q: Do you have any stories you could share about your time volunteering?

A: The scariest thing I have volunteered to do was to make a huge pile of sandwiches to serve at the 2024 Drama Awards. But in the end they turned out fine (although I ran out of roasted veg and had to make more), and it was great working with the BHAC Catering Team!!

Q: Would you recommend volunteering with BHAC to others?

A: I certainly would, I have never met such a lovely group of people.

Q: What would you say to anyone who is thinking about volunteering?

A: Give it a go, it gets you off the sofa and it’s really fun!

Thanks to Volunteers’ Week for the questionnaire!
